ENERGY HEALING FACTS

Vibrational Healing

What Is It?

Vibrational Healing is grounded in the belief that the human body is a part of universal life force energy, and that this energy flows through and within every part of the body. This life force energy is called Qi in Chinese, Ki in Japanese, Prana in Ayurveda. When this energy flow is blocked or excessive, the body's functions become impaired, which can lead to symptoms of distress and eventually disease.

Vibrational Healing shares many of the same beliefs about the body and energy as traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, Shiatsu, Reiki, and other energy systems. In these systems, by correcting energy imbalances in the body, we can assist to bring about a healthy state.

Energy flows through the body in various "channels," called meridians in Shiatsu and acupressure systems. The meridian system contains several hundred meridian points that can be manipulated to assist energy flows throughout the body. Energy is also contained within the body, with the densest tissue, the bones, being the most potent channel for energy. In addition, there are major energy bodies, called Chakras, where the energy gathers in a vortex-like center. Maps of the Chakras in the body generally present 7 major Chakras along the centerline of the body, and several more outside the body and along the extremities.

Charka with labelsEach Chakra is associated with a major nerve plexus and gland system, which may explain how opening the energy pathways can increase the functioning of these physical organs. The nerve plexuses of the lower three Chakras are of the Central Nervous System, and those of the upper Chakras are of the Autonomic Nervous System. The lower Chakras are associated with the adrenals and sexual glands, and the upper Chakras are associated with the pancreas, heart, thyroid, pineal, and pituitary glands. Vibrational Healing includes diagnostic techniques such as pendulum assessment and applied Kinesiology, which allows the practitioner to diagnose the client's energy body, finding areas of energy imbalance. The practitioner can then apply various therapeutic interventions that can assist the energy channels to balance by releasing energy where there are blockages and assisting the increase of energy in areas that are depleted.

How Does It Work?

Proponents of Vibrational Healing believe that energy imbalance in the body results in illness. By gently introducing a directed energy flow to a person, a Vibrational Healing Practitioner helps to balance the energy, allowing healing energy to again flow freely through the person's body. There have been no extensive studies showing direct health benefits with this form of therapy, but there is much anecdotal history, some going back centuries, about the efficacy of the techniques that are used. During the session, the client will achieve a deep state of relaxation, which will help to balance the Autonomic Nervous System and may trigger the release of hormones and neurotransmitters that can help to decrease pain and increase the sense of well-being.

Another benefit is in assisting with the release of emotional energy, as well as increased awareness of mind-body patterns that contribute to the imbalances. Most people who receive a vibrational healing session note a decrease in their stress levels, which has long been recognized as a major contributor to increased wellness.

What You Can Expect

Receiving Vibrational Healing is a soothing experience. The session begins with a thorough health history, as well as a discussion of the conditions for which the client is seeking relief. Many times clients will be referred to a Vibrational Healing Practitioner by another health care practitioner, in which case the practitioner will become aware of any past diagnoses and treatments.

The practitioner will then do an energy "diagnosis," using various techniques to bring awareness to the major areas of imbalance. One technique used will be body scanning, either visually or with hands on or off the body. The practitioner may also use a pendulum to read the energy flows at each Chakra, as well as Applied Kinesiology to uncover connections in the body that would lead to muscle weakness (such as allergies, emotional dissonance, etc.)

As the practitioner gets information from the body, she will discuss various possibilities for treatment. A well trained practitioner will have several options for treatment, including hands-on healing techniques, similar to Reiki, Shiatsu, or massage; the use of scents (Aromatherapy); the use of colored light, either as light directed onto the body through colored foils or with the client wearing colored glasses; the use of tuning forks or the voice (harmonics); movement therapies, such as muscle energy technique; and dialogue.

A Vibrational Healing session usually lasts an hour, depending on the condition being addressed. For basic stress reduction, a few sessions initially, and then periodic follow-up sessions, are usually sufficient. For the treatment of disease conditions, long-term treatment, in conjunction with one or more other medical practitioners (e.g., naturopath, chiropractor, homeopath) may be required.

Health Benefits

Vibrational Healing is not a substitute for conventional medical care. However, as an adjunct treatment in concert with other treatments (e.g., herbs or other medications, chiropractic adjustments, etc.) Vibrational Healing can be a very effective and non-invasive approach.

By balancing the body's energy pathways and assisting with creating a sense of well being, Vibrational Healing may also be effective in the treatment of minor emotional conditions, such as situational depression. The trained practitioner will have treatments for many diseases of the nervous system, liver, immune system, adrenals, endocrine system, and respiratory system.

How To Choose a Practitioner

There is no local or national standard for Vibrational Healing Practitioners, Many who practice Vibrational Healing may be licensed as massage therapists, physical therapists, nurses, etc. Ask your physician, a friend, or a trusted health care practitioner for a referral to a Vibrational Healing Practitioner.

Training in Vibrational Healing varies from program to program. As a minimum, the practitioner should have a thorough background in anatomy and physiology, pathology, emotional functioning, as well as in the application of the techniques they intend to use.

Cautions

  • Vibrational Healing is not a substitute for traditional health care. It is not intended as primary care, and for clients with a diagnosed disease, should be done in concert with a health care team.
  • Vibrational Healing is not intended as emergency care. While some injuries will respond to Vibrational Healing techniques, it is best to get the diagnostic tests necessary to show fractures or other traumatic injuries to the body.

Einstein versus Newton
by Gloria Two-Feathers

"Everything is energy and beyond that is Supreme Intelligence" Albert Einstein

We live in interesting times. The nature of health care is changing dramatically as we begin the twenty-first century. But modern medicine sometimes falls short of solving our health problems. Are scientist asking the right questions about health and illness? Or are they locked into a medical model that is behind the times? In our culture, one of our biases is that newer information and techniques are always better then older systems and technologies. Modern scientists assume that older approaches are too outdated to be valuable. Perhaps revisiting ancient wisdom may supply important missing information that could result in a revolution in the field of medicine and healing.

Ancient approaches to understanding disease and body healing often viewed illness from the perspective of the human spirit, or the body's life-force energy. Yet modern medicine tries to distance itself from ideas of spirit and life energy.

The new model of medicine is part of an emerging field of what has been called "Energy Healing," a science that is both part old and part new. It is a fusion of the best of ancient healing lore combined with the latest discoveries in science to produce an entirely new approach to diagnosing and treating illness. A number of pioneering researchers in science and medicine are embracing a blended worldview of healing that combines the best of ancient and modern viewpoints of the human body and the varied approaches to achieve wellness. Deepak Chopra wrote "To promote the healing response you must get past all the grosser levels of the body-cells, tissue, organs and systems----and arrive at a junction point between mind and matter, the point where consciousness actually starts to have an effect".

Energy Healing is timeless. Instinctive knowledge of how to heal themselves was a possession of your ancestors. And it still resides deep within you. Our healing abilities still reside in our ancestral bones, our healing hands, our compassionate hearts, and our intuitive brains. By focusing on your body as a living system of energy, you will begin to realize that powerful energy technologies are already inherent in your hands and in your being.

Energy Healing is safe, natural, and accessible. It is both contemporary and ancient. The term is being used in many ways today, ranging from the introduction of Shamanic healing practices in modern cultures to the use of powerful electromagnetic and imaging technologies in modern hospitals. It embraces lawful principles and mysteries; routine procedures and artistry; matter and spirit. Energy Healing is the art and science of fostering physical, psychological, and spiritual health and well being. It combines a rational knowledge and intuitive understanding of the energies in the body and in the environment. Cultivating your capacity to weave these energies can make you a more conscious and sensitive instrument of energy healing than all the other technologies combined.

The return of energy healing is one of the most significant cultural developments of the day, for the return of energy healing is a return to personal authority for health care, a return to practices that are natural, friendly and familiar to the body, mind, and soul.

There is a growing Community of informed and educated Healers that are shifting the concept of healing today. We are entering a time where Energy Healing will be as common as getting a massage or a Chiropractic treatment. I envision a world where Energy Healers will have private practices and be on staff in Hospitals, Birthing Centers, Retirement Homes, Hospice Care, Dental Practices, and Veterinary Clinics. Welcome to the future of healing!
